The Call to Customize Schooling

Rick Hess, director of educational policy studies at the American Enterprise Institute and co-editor of the new book Customized Schooling, explains why reformers need to move beyond “school choice” and other whole-school solutions to address challenges facing public education. He assesses Colorado state-level and local-level reforms—including Denver and Douglas County—in light of his call to rethink how instructional services are delivered and content is received.
